Happy Cinco De Mayo to everyone today! I just wanted to recommend a few things to see and do in Pasadena today. I hope you are all enjoying the hot Pasadena days and if you are not, then I am sure that the hot Pasadena nights will be more to your liking…
The Pasadena Public Library will be hosting a Cinco De Mayo party that is open to the public. It starts at 3:30 and the cost is free. You can enjoy some chips and salsa while watching a screening of Nacho Libre. Go to http://www.pasadenapubliclibrary.net or call 626-744-7260 for more information.
The ICE HOUSE celebrates Cinco De Mayo with the clean, yet edgy comedy of Gilbert Esquivel. Besides being one of the first Latino Semi-Finalists on BET’s Comic View, Gilbert Esquivel has been seen on numerous television shows, including ABC’s Comics Unleashed, Que Locos, and Comedy Central’s Laffapalo.
His upbeat, urban style has brought down the house from South L.A.’s roughest comedy clubs to churches in Massachusetts, from Caesars Palace in Vegas to the most dangerous prisons in the country. Cost is $15 and program starts at 8pm.
El Portal restaurant is having a grand celebration to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. From 5:30 to 7pm they are serving free appetizers. From 6:30 to 9pm they will have mariachis playing, folklorico dancers will be performing and the Corona girls will be in attendance . Check out their special Cinco De Mayo menu http://elportalrestaurant.com/CincoDeMayo_Menu2011.pdf and don’t forget to partake in their special Cazadores Margarita and take home the commemorative glass.
Note: The Pasadena Police department will be running their DUI Saturation patrol throughout Pasadena tonight, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun and enjoy yourself tonight in Pasadena. So if you drink – don’t get behind the wheel. You can sober up, call a cab, walk home, or call a friend to pick you up . Be safe, celebrate and have a great Cinco De Mayo my friends!
